What is Anal and Vaginal Fisting?
Fisting is a sex act that involves inserting the entire hand into the vagina (vaginal fisting) or anus (anal fisting). Pleasure, which many describe as being intense, is derived from the stretching and stimulation of the vaginal walls or the prostate gland.
Now I know what you’re thinking. Is it really possible to get a whole hand in such small spaces? Well, I’ve seen the pictures and the answer is yes, particularly when it comes to the vaginal canal because it is highly elastic. I mean, a fist is really nothing in comparison to an eight pound baby.
Oh the other hand, I’m still perplexed by anal fisting. If you have ever had a difficult bowel movement then you know what I’m talking about. It would seem impossible for a whole hand to get up there. Apparently, the anus is flexible too though not as elastic as a vagina. Still, I don’t think I would want someone trying to stick their hand up there unless it was a life or death situation.
Terms and Slang for Fisting
Fisting is also known as Fist Fucking or Handballing. Punching and Piston Fisting refers to the extreme technique of inserting a clenched fist into the anus or vagina and thrusting vigorously. Inserting both hands is called Double Fisting.
Fisting also goes by the code name Red. In the porn industry it has many colorful names such as hard fisting, brutal fisting, gay anal fisting, lesbian fisting, pussy fisting, and extreme fisting.
Preparing for a Night of Fisting
The first thing you need to do before anything else is to trim the fingernails. Sharp fingernails can cause tearing in delicate places which, in turn, could lead to discomfort, bleeding and unsexy infections. So fingernails should be short and smooth.
Since cleanliness is next to godliness, the fistee should clean their rectum to minimize mess during anal fisting. This can be achieved through the use of an enema which can be found in any drugstore. Be aware though, that even with a thorough flushing, the anal canal will not get entirely clean.
To minimize the risk of an STD, it is wise to use a condom for your hand, otherwise known as a glove. The best gloves to use are either surgical or vinyl gloves which tend to be soft and thin. Gloves like these will allow the wearer to feel what is going on and minimizing injury to their partner.
You will also need lubricant. Lots and lots of lubricant. Oil based lubricants are best because they last the longest. However, they tend to eat away at gloves. Water based lubricants, like KY Jelly, are easy on gloves but tend to dry up quickly. Whichever you use, make sure you have lots of it on hand particularly if you are trying anal fisting. The anus does not self lubricate like the vagina so liquid assistance is required.
Getting Down to the Business of Fisting
Despite the name, anal and vaginal fisting requires patience, tenderness and trust. Great care must be taken to avoid damage to sensitive sex parts as well as to the relationship because of miscommunication. The fistee must feel absolutely comfortable with the fister otherwise they will never become relaxed enough to make a night of fisting fun and thrilling.
Engage in sex play, kissing and caressing each other, until your partner is ready for you to begin. If your partner has not ever been fisted before, start with one finger and gradually work your way up until all five are inserted up to the knuckle. This is where things get a little tricky.
The hardest part of fisting is getting the knuckles of the hand past the ring of muscles at the entrance of the vagina and the anus. The hand is widest at the knuckles which is why it is important that your partner is relaxed and that you have adequate lubricant. Make sure your hand is lubed all the way up to the wrist and proceed slowly but steadily inside. Listen to your partner. If the sensations become too intense or painful, STOP. It is more important to maintain trust than to press on.
The easiest way to get the hand completely inside is to shape it like a duck’s beak, appropriately called the Silent Duck technique. Fingers should be kept straight with the thumb pulled inside the palm. Once inside you can choose to curl your fingers into a fist or leave them straight. You can make gentle pumping or twisting motions with your hand or leave your hand stationary and tease other parts of their body until orgasm occurs. Follow your partner’s lead.
When pulling out, you want to be as gentle as going in. As we all know, sex parts are the most sensitive after orgasm and the last thing anyone wants is a hand ripping itself out of a tender orifice. Wait until your partner is ready and then just gently pull out. If you participated in anal fisting be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before touching the penis or vagina. You don’t want to be spreading any potential infectious bacteria around.

As an erotic fiction writer, I’m always on the lookout for ways my characters can take pleasure in each other which is probably why I know enough about sex and sex techniques to be a pretty damn good prostitute. If you are a fellow writer of erotica, here are some things to keep in mind when integrating this interesting sex act into your stories.
* Anal and vaginal fisting is not for virgins or for people relatively new to sex. So having a man fist his virgin bride on their wedding night won’t be believable.
* I think that this type of sex act works best as an experimental excursion. Think two partners who are tired of the same old sex routine and are ready for something new or a person who gets involved with someone who uses this to expand their realm of sexual experience.
* It is important that the fistee in your story is relaxed. Introducing fisting to your character when they are in a state of resistance will only make your readers wince and toss your story in the trash. Or maybe not if your story is written for the sadistic/masochistic audience.
* If you have never fisted or have been fisted before, I highly recommend taking advantage of the many image galleries online that are only too happy to show you pictures of what it looks like in action. Look! A video:
