Back From the Dead
Life has been pretty hectic for me since the last time I blogged. Mostly, I’ve been trying to keep my head above water. In addition to writing fiction, I am a freelance writer. Though I enjoy being able to work from home and according to my own rules (for the most part), I have to work extra hard to make sure there is money in the bank to pay the bills. This doesn’t leave a lot of time for blogging, social networking, or writing sexy stories.

Bwainz!
Thankfully, though, I got a little bit of breather this weekend so I could write a blog post.
The first interesting thing happened just recently. Like this morning. I was doing my regular Google check and found that I’m back in the index after the Panda update kicked me off. Yay me!
I haven’t done anything differently. In fact, I’ve been too busy to do any kind of SEO/SEM or marketing. I had submitted a “Please look at my site” ticket to Google when it first happened. So I think maybe someone finally got around to looking at my site and decided I was worthy of being readmitted into the club.
Possible Name Change
Over the last month or so I’ve been thinking about changing my name. The primary reason was because of the whole Google issue. I was thinking that I would use a pen name and start from scratch. I even had a few picked out. Now that issue is resolved so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
I might still do it. I also wanted to change my name because there is a singer using the name Daria Black who lives in Russia. When you type in my name, her profile on Reverbnation comes up. It bothers me because I think there is potential for confusion. Plus I feel bad about the possibility that people may be looking for her but my sexy website comes up. Awkward…
Then there are the millions of shopping sites that are selling clothes and shoes called Daria Black. How weird is that?
Anyway, I haven’t made up my mind yet. But when I do, you’ll be the first to know.
Giving Up Politics
Over the last six weeks or so, I’ve been following politics. At first it was interesting watching the political posturing and following the issues. Lately, though, I found myself slipping into episodes of depression. Why? Because it quickly became obvious that very few people in government actually care about governing. All they seem to be interested in is pushing through their skewed ideology and winning political points.
People are out of work and yet the crazies in office won’t let anyone talk about anything else except the debt ceiling. They were willing to shut down the government over Planned Parenthood. Really? Now they are threatening to let the country default on its debt unless old people give up their Medicare coverage. Seriously? These crazy people scream that Obama is destroying the country when, in fact, the Tea idiots that are in office are the ones steadily dismantling the country for their own personal vendettas.
There is very little compassion in government right now. It’s all ideological grandstanding and bullshit and I just can’t take it anymore. I feel powerless to do anything that would make a difference and that really depresses me. So I’ve decided to get away from the politics and focus on writing my stories. Maybe they will bring someone enough joy that they can forget their problems for a few minutes. Yeah. I think that will be my contribution to the world.
Like this post? Buy me a coffee so I can write more!
I am a writer. I write a variety of things including articles, short stories, and novels. I’m a big fan of science fiction and fantasy but I also enjoy reading and writing erotica, some of which you will find on my website. I write mainly for pleasure but I do hope to eventually get published. [
Daria, it’s so nice to see you come back again after such a long time.
Politics really sucks! It do make people depressed. There are always too many politicians but few statesmen. I always think it is very dirty, but sadly you cannot get rid of it completely.
There’s no necessary to change the name. Daria Black is good enough. It is quite the same as the domain, and it is your brand. When readers think of Daria Black, they think of your words, not the clothes or the star.
It seems that Google here still doesn’t work fine. I just Google your name, but your blog at wordpress.com still come at the first place.
Hope everything goes well!
Sorry for the typos.
“I just Googled your name, but your blog at wordpress.com still came at the first place.”
Hi Victor. It’s nice to see you again. Yes, I checked the index and I was kicked out again. I don’t know why this keeps happening but I think it means I need to be more aggressive about marketing the site.
Thanks for the compliment! I decided I will keep my blog here
I hope you have a wonderful day.
