Random Updates: New Story and Funny Video

In between client projects and my personal writing projects, I’ve been working on the site. I updated my posts, got rid of some excess categories, tagged everything, and did some SEO so that it can start ranking in the search engines. Although it has been awhile since I’ve had to think about this stuff, it’s been easy getting back into the groove of things. Plus I’ve been surfing the internet reading about social media, SEO/SEM, and other ways to market a website.

You may have noticed that the title and description of the site has changed. Part of that has to do with the keyword research I did this weekend. Mainly, though, it is a refinement of my goals for this website. First and foremost this site exists as a repository for my erotic fiction stories. Ultimately, I would like to build a readership and sell books (and other things) so I can quit freelance writing and make money doing something I really enjoy. The fact that I also post about life, writing, and other random shit is really a secondary function of this blog but one I also enjoy engaging in.

You may have also noticed that the theme has changed. I’m still on the lookout for a good blog template. (Found one!) The problem is that all of the themes I come across for WordPress, free and premium, have no personality. They are all pretty generic and need tweaking to reflect my personal tastes. I really don’t want to design a theme from scratch so I’ve decided to just look for one with a basic structure I like and then customize it until the site looks the way I want it to look. I’m trying this theme from Web2Feel for awhile but already I’m pretty sure I want to switch it out for something else. (Found something I like but it needs tweaking of course.)

New Story in the Works

Man Can't Take Hint
I have one erotic fiction story in the second draft stage. It is a brother sister incest erotica. I admit I was hesitant to publish the story not so much because I was worried about what people would think of me but because I have a feeling that it is going to be a little controversial. The story is more psychological than it is erotic, though I did not hold back on the sex part. However, the way the characters interact is interesting to say the least. Anyway, I hope to have it completed by the weekend and you can judge for yourself. (Finished! Read The Sleep Creeper)

I have plenty of ideas for stories but one that recently came to me, and one I’ve decided to work on next, is about an interracial couple. The story has a sci-fi twist that I’m not going to give away because it is integral to the plot. However, I did some surfing on the internet to get an idea about how the respective communities felt about interracial dating so that I can reflect the attitudes accurately in the story. In all honesty, the opinions towards interracial couplings are all over the place and basically only confirmed what I thought so I didn’t actually need to spend hours reading.

But the search was not wasted because I came across this little gem on Politically Unapologetic. I don’t care what race or nationality you are. Every woman has run into their version of this guy.

Have you run into this guy? Tell me about it in the comments section. I’d love to hear that story.

Look for this short story sometime next month. Maybe before Valentine’s Day even.

New Domain Name

Oh, good news. Well, for me anyway. A friend of mine bought my old domain name for me (Smutwriter.com). I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it though. I have some ideas but I won’t be devoting any time to them until I get this blog together. (Update: I’ve turned it into an ezine for erotica writers)

Okay, it’s late and I’m tired. Hopefully, my grammar and spelling is not too bad. I guess I’ll see in the morning.
