Google’s Farmer Update Kicked My Site Off the Search Engine
When it comes to internet marketing, I’m pretty well versed in the different tactics you can use to increase website visibility and generate traffic. Several years ago, in fact, I had a website where I wrote about internet marketing, web design, and article writing. Even though this is an erotic fiction story site, you can find many of these articles in my archives from when I moved them from the original sites.
Anyway, everyone is up in arms about the Google Farmer update which was supposed to address the problem of spammy content and content farms. I didn’t think anything of it because all of the content on my blog is original even if it is a few years old. But if Google’s update managed to deindex popular sites like the Cult of Mac, then I should not have been surprised to find that this blog no longer ranks for my name Daria Black.

I was going through my archives and found an old article I wrote about free blog hosting vs. self hosted blogs. This got me thinking about the various struggles I have had over the years finding a good company to host the websites I created. The problem I’ve run into is the fact that I write erotic fiction stories and thus needed adult hosting.
I would say the majority of web hosting companies online do not allow adult content on their web servers. Adult websites with porn images and xxx videos generate a lot of traffic which consumes tons of space. A high traffic porn site can make all other sites on the server slow to load or even cause the server itself to crash. No hosting company wants to deal with that so they make sex content providers find adult web site hosting.

Daniel Handler wrote a book series called ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’ the last of which is set to publish October of this year. He…What’s that you say Daniel Handler didn’t write those books but a guy named Lemony Snicket did? Of course Daniel Handler published that book. You see Lemony Snicket is Daniel Handler’s pen name.
Pen names have been used by authors for as long as the art of storytelling has been around. The list of reasons to do so go on for miles. Women writers such as JK Rowling and Mary Ann Cross used masculine pseudonyms to neutralize the sexism associated with their genre of writing. Political writers wrote their diatribes under witty monikers to avoid persecution and sometimes assassination. Although erotica is moving up from the slums of poorly lit adult toy stores to the posh book shelves of Borders and Waldenbooks, the general public is still slow to accept those who ‘peddle flesh stories’. For the erotica writer, the pen name is the author’s shield against public censure and discrimination.

Up until now, the writing prompts have focussed on fiction writing. This week, however, I’m going to show some love to our nonfiction writers and throw out some ideas for possible articles/blog posts/school essays.
1. Just recently a young girl in India was born with four legs and four arms due to a rare condition where her twin died in the womb and her body tried to absorb the tissue (link to article). Her village views her as the reincarnation of the Hindu goddess she is named after. Discuss how society treats those who are born outside the norm.
2. Discuss how you would overhaul our current system of government. Discuss if it is really necessary to have a governmental entity and what would it take for us to be able to get rid of it completely.
3. What does it mean to be success in our current age? How does that compare what it meant to be a success in previous ages and what success might mean in the future.

1. Subscriptions
With this setup, clients are charged a reoccurring fee for access to a product or service. This fee is usually collected upfront before the service or product is rendered and can be charged on a monthly, semi-yearly and yearly basis although daily and weekly models exist as well.
Subscriptions can be set up for manual renewal where the customer is required to send in or authorize payment or automatic renewal where a customer’s credit card or checking account is charged automatically when the subscription period ends.
An example of the subscription model is the dating service eHarmony.
