De-Evolution of a Writer

I restarted this blog with good intentions. Really, I did. I planned to post a story every week and write articles of such philosophical deliciousness that your brain would get fat from consuming all the heavy facts and symbolic richness that are my thoughts. I was going to put my butt in the chair and churn out content like 10,000 monkeys pounding on typewriters. Except I’m human. And I use a computer. And the random letters I typed would form real words that may or may not make sense when put together.

But the economy stubbornly refuses to improve. Feel free to thank our government representatives for that. Since I’m a self-employed freelance writer, I have to focus on doing the writing that pays the bills which leaves very little time for my personal stuff. I wouldn’t have to do this if people didn’t insist on getting money from me.

A Mini Ephiphany

A long time ago I had a dream about heaven. At least at the time I thought it was about heaven but looking back, I really think it was a dream about the future. And when I say the future, I think it was a dream I needed to have back then so that it could inspire me now, in the present, when I think of it.

In the dream, I was walking through the desert. I have no idea why but it was tough going. I was thirsty and tired. I wanted to stop but I just kept trudging along. After a few moments I came upon this small path off to my right that led to a ledge. Because I really had nothing else better to do but be tired and thirsty, I decided to climb the ledge to see what was up there.

Good Advice

He says that all problems are temporary and relative. However, if you are anything like me, when a problem crops up, you get all overly dramatic and think things are going to last F-O-R-E-V-E-R. But that is not true. All things eventually come to an end both good and bad and, as someone once told me, the good times exist to help us make it through the bad.

So appreciate all that you have rather than dwell on all that you don’t. Celebrate your accomplishments instead of commiserating on your failures. But most of all be happy instead of sad. Life is too short for anything less.

The Thinking Blogger Award

Recently (In Daria time at least. In real time about two weeks ago) Joy Renee over at Joystory awarded me the Thinking Blogger Award for the post I wrote about Bipolar Disorder. If you haven’t already come across this in the blogosphere yet, the Thinking Blogger Award is where you list five blogs that make you think. It was created by Ilker Yoldas of The Thinking Blog.

I have to say, though, that every blog I come across makes me think. I’ve discovered that, by nature, I’m more of an observer than I am a participant. I like to watch. Ignoring the whole voyeuristic undertones there, I find that this trait serves me as a writer. People tell you more about themselves than they realize. From how they dress and carry themselves to their speech and word choice, all of it tells you everything you could ever want to know about them. You just have to know how to interpret what you see.

Why Some People Almost Always are Successful

I finally got around to visiting all of the links I’ve saved in my bookmarks folder. I swear the list is a mile long. Really. Anyway, amongst the links to guaranteed time wasters (online video games), new design resources and tutorials, is this gem from the Positivity blog. Why Some People Almost Always are Successful is a must read for anyone attempting to pursue their dreams. I will certainly be adding this to the notable articles list in the sidebar.
